Privacy Policy for Budgt

Effective Date: July 14, 2026 Last Updated: July 20, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Budgt ("Budgt," "we," "us," or "our"). Budgt is a personal finance mobile application that helps you manage wallets, track transactions, set budgets, work toward financial goals, and view reports about your spending habits.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and what choices you have. It applies to the Budgt mobile application available on Google Play and the Apple App Store, and to any related services we offer (together, the "App").

By downloading, accessing, or using Budgt, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.

Budgt is developed and operated by an independent developer. We are not a bank, financial institution, or licensed financial advisor. Details about who to contact are provided in Section 20 ("Contact Information").

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in a few different ways: information you provide directly, information generated by your use of the App, and information collected automatically through the technical services we rely on (such as Firebase). The sections below describe each category in detail.

2.1 Authentication Data

To create and secure your Budgt account, we collect authentication-related information through Firebase Authentication, a service provided by Google. This may include:

  • A unique user identifier (User ID) generated by Firebase
  • Your chosen sign-in method (Google Sign-In or Email and Password)
  • Authentication tokens used to keep you securely signed in
  • Account creation date and last sign-in timestamps

We do not receive or store your Google account password or any third-party account credentials. Authentication is handled directly and securely by Firebase Authentication.

2.2 Google Sign-In

If you choose to sign in using Google Sign-In, Google will share certain basic profile information with Budgt, which may include:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your Google account profile picture (if available)
  • A unique Google account identifier

This information is used solely to create and manage your Budgt account and to personalize your experience within the App (for example, displaying your name in the app). We do not access your Google Drive, Gmail, Contacts, or any other Google service beyond the basic profile information required for sign-in. Your use of Google Sign-In is also subject to Google's own Privacy Policy.

2.3 Email Addresses

If you register using email authentication, we collect and store the email address you provide. Your email address is used to:

  • Create and identify your account
  • Allow you to sign in and recover access to your account
  • Send you important account-related or service-related communications (such as password reset emails, which are handled by Firebase Authentication)

We do not sell your email address, and we do not use it for unsolicited marketing from third parties.

2.4 Financial Information

Budgt is a personal finance tracking tool. The core purpose of the App is to let you record and organize your own financial information. This may include:

  • Wallet names, types, and balances that you create
  • Transactions you manually enter (amounts, categories, dates, notes, merchant or payee descriptions)
  • Budgets you set and your progress against them
  • Financial goals you create and your progress toward them
  • Reports and summaries generated from the data above

This financial information is entered by you and is stored either on your device (Local Storage, see Section 2.6) and/or in Cloud Firestore under your authenticated account, depending on how the App is configured to sync your data.

Important: Budgt does not connect directly to your bank, card issuer, or any financial institution, and does not use services such as Plaid or similar bank-linking providers to automatically retrieve your financial data. All financial data in the App is entered manually by you unless a future version of the App states otherwise, in which case this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.

2.5 Device Information

To operate the App reliably and to diagnose technical issues, we may collect limited device and usage information, such as:

  • Device type, model, and operating system version
  • App version and build number
  • General usage data (such as which features are used and how often)
  • Crash logs and performance diagnostics
  • Approximate, non-precise location derived from IP address (if applicable, for analytics purposes only — we do not request or collect precise GPS location)
  • A unique installation or device identifier used for push notifications and analytics

This information is generally collected automatically through Firebase services described in Section 2.8.

3. Notifications

If you enable notifications, Budgt may send you push notifications for purposes such as budget alerts, goal reminders, or transaction summaries. To deliver these notifications, we use a device or installation token that identifies your device to our notification provider (such as Firebase Cloud Messaging). You can disable notifications at any time through your device's operating system settings or, where available, within the App's own settings.

4. Firebase Services

Budgt relies on Firebase, a mobile and web application development platform provided by Google, for core backend functionality. Depending on how the App is configured, we may use the following Firebase services:

  • Firebase Authentication — to manage sign-up and sign-in (see Section 2.1)
  • Cloud Firestore — to store your account, wallet, transaction, budget, and goal data in the cloud so it can sync across your devices
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging — to deliver push notifications
  • Firebase Analytics — to understand feature usage and app performance (see Section 5)
  • Firebase Crashlytics or similar crash-reporting tools — to help us identify and fix technical issues

Data processed through Firebase is subject to Google's infrastructure and security practices. Firebase, as a Google Cloud product, encrypts data in transit using industry-standard protocols (such as TLS) and encrypts stored data at rest, consistent with Google's standard Firebase security practices. We do not operate our own separate servers for this data — it resides within your Firebase/Google Cloud project. You can review Google's own privacy and security documentation at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

5. Analytics

We may use Firebase Analytics (or a comparable analytics tool) to collect aggregated, non-identifying usage statistics, such as which screens are visited, which features are used most often, session length, and general app performance metrics. This helps us understand how the App is used and where to improve it.

Analytics data is generally aggregated and is not used to make decisions about you individually. Where analytics data is linked to a device or installation identifier, it is not linked to your name or email address unless required for basic account-level analytics (such as counting active accounts).

6. Local Storage

Budgt stores certain data directly on your device using local device storage. This may include cached copies of your wallets, transactions, budgets, goals, and app settings, allowing the App to function quickly and, in some cases, without an active internet connection. Data stored locally on your device is subject to your device's own security features (such as device passcode, biometric lock, or disk encryption), and we do not control the security of your physical device.

If you uninstall the App or clear its local storage/cache through your device settings, locally stored data not also synced to Cloud Firestore may be permanently lost.

7. Future Offline Synchronization

We are developing offline synchronization functionality that will allow you to use core features of the App without an internet connection, with your data automatically syncing to Cloud Firestore once connectivity is restored. When this feature becomes available:

  • Data created or edited offline will be queued and stored locally until it can be synced
  • Once synced, the same data collection and storage practices described in this Policy will apply
  • We will update this Privacy Policy if the introduction of offline sync materially changes how your data is collected, stored, or used

8. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including relying on Firebase's built-in security infrastructure (such as encrypted connections, encrypted storage, and Firebase Authentication's secure token handling) and Firestore Security Rules to restrict access to your data to your own authenticated account.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we work to protect your information using commercially reasonable means, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for using a strong, unique password if you sign in via email authentication.

9. Data Retention

We retain your account and financial data for as long as your account remains active, or as needed to provide you with the App's features. If you delete your account (see Section 12), we will delete or begin the process of deleting your associated personal data from our active systems, except where retention is required to:

  • Comply with a legal obligation
  • Resolve disputes
  • Enforce our agreements
  • Maintain backups for a limited period as part of standard data management practices, after which such backups are also purged in the normal course of business

Locally stored data is retained on your device until you delete the App, clear its storage, or delete individual records within the App.

10. Third-Party Services

Budgt relies on the following categories of third-party service providers to operate:

  • Google Firebase / Google Cloud Platform — authentication, database, analytics, crash reporting, and push notifications
  • Google Sign-In — optional authentication method
  • Apple App Store and Google Play — app distribution, and, where applicable, purchase processing if the App offers paid features

These third parties may collect and process information as described in their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review:

  • Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
  • Apple Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not share your financial data with advertisers.

11. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, which may include the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent

For example, if you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, these rights may be available to you under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you are a California resident, similar rights may be available to you under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). These laws apply based on your location and circumstances rather than by our independent certification, and we make reasonable efforts to honor applicable requests.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 20. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

12. Account Deletion

You may delete your Budgt account at any time, either through an in-app account deletion option (where available) or by contacting us directly at the email address listed in Section 20. When you delete your account:

  • Your authentication record will be removed from Firebase Authentication
  • Your associated data in Cloud Firestore (wallets, transactions, budgets, goals, and reports) will be deleted or scheduled for deletion
  • Locally stored data on your device will remain until you uninstall the App or clear its storage, since we do not have remote access to your device's local storage

Deletion requests are generally processed promptly, though some data may persist temporarily in backups as described in Section 9.

13. Children's Privacy

Budgt is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold where required by local law, such as 16 in certain jurisdictions). If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details in Section 20.

14. International Users

Budgt is available to users globally. Because we use Firebase and Google Cloud infrastructure, your information may be stored and processed in data centers located in countries other than your own, including the United States or other regions where Google operates infrastructure. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in a country that may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

We rely on the safeguards and practices that Google/Firebase maintains for cross-border data handling. If you have questions about international data transfers, please contact us using the details in Section 20.

15. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the App's features, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (such as an in-app notification). Your continued use of the App after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.

16. Contact Information
